WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Sourcing/Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting Steiner Electric’s Integrated Supply Group by sourcing products, coordinating purchasing activity, maintaining supplier relationships, supporting customer-specific inventory programs, and ensuring product availability for VMI, CMI, vending, job-site trailer, cart, and other integrated supply solutions. This position works closely with ISG operations, analysts, inside sales, purchasing, pricing, Account Managers, suppliers, and customers to support accurate quoting, timely replenishment, cost control, inventory performance, and successful customer implementations.
- Source products required for Integrated Supply Group customer programs, including electrical, OEM, MRO, metalworking, and Construction.
- Support new customer implementations by identifying required suppliers, product availability, lead times, substitute items, cost requirements, and replenishment options.
- Work with ISG analysts and operations personnel to support item setup, customer part number assignment, unit of measure review, pricing support, supplier setup, and customer-specific inventory data readiness.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Pricing teams to ensure cost, margin, contract pricing, customer-specific pricing, and supplier setup requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Review and expedite ISG orders to support customer program requirements, vending replenishment, consignment inventory, non-consignment inventory, and project-related demand.
- Assist with sourcing spot-buy items, substitute products, hard-to-find materials, obsolete items, and non-stock inventory required for customer programs.
- Maintain supplier relationships to support reliable product availability, competitive cost, service levels, and problem resolution for ISG customers.
- Support market basket quote activity by gathering supplier cost, availability, lead-time, and product substitution information as required.
- Participate in post-launch reviews to identify purchasing, sourcing, inventory, and replenishment improvement opportunities.
- Assist other members of the Integrated Supply Group with project requirements as needed.
- Implement and execute all company policies and initiatives.
WHAT WE'LL NEED FROM YOU:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, operations, or related discipline preferred.
- Two to five years of purchasing, sourcing, inventory control, inside sales, supply chain, or distribution experience preferred.
- Experience in electrical distribution, industrial distribution, OEM, MRO, metalworking, or contractor supply markets preferred.
- Strong product research, sourcing, supplier communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work across functional departments including ISG operations, analysts, Account Managers, inside sales, purchasing, pricing, operations, and suppliers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customer requests, supplier follow-ups, quotes, purchase orders, and implementation deadlines
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and company ERP systems.
- Experience with vending, VMI, CMI, integrated supply programs, or customer-specific inventory programs preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, follow established procedures, and escalate issues when appropriate.
